Collection Site Awards

Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) understands that communities work hard to provide organized, convenient, and safe options for the public to recycle their end-of-life materials.

Award Purpose

Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) understands that communities work hard to provide organized, convenient, and safe options for the public to recycle their end-of-life materials. This award is intended to recognize communities’ exceptional dedication to offering such options and meeting all registered collection site requirements.

Who Can Win

  • Municipalities, First Nations, Métis Settlements, waste authorities, and commissions collectively known as Registered Collectors are eligible to win a Collection Site Award of Excellence.
  • If a municipality, First Nation, Métis Settlement, waste authority, or commission has multiple collection sites that could be recognized, a nomination form for each collection site must be submitted individually to be considered, and an award is provided to a single Collection Site as nominated.
  • To ensure ARMA maximizes recognition across the broader community, we will prioritize those who have not won in the last five years.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee that a Collection Site will be selected to win an award, but a nomination form must be submitted to be successful.

What it Takes to Win

Collection Site Award of Excellence winners will be chosen from the nominees based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:

  • Adherence to the ARMA Collection Site Requirements.
  • Recent innovations or improvements implemented at the collection site.
  • Improvements to operations or efficiencies.
  • Leadership in community engagement.
  • Exceptional customer service.

Nominations that include measurable outcomes will be considered stronger. Nominators are encouraged to attach any relevant documents or photos that support the nomination (e.g., testimonials, reports, images of events or innovations).

If you are aware of a registered collection site that is going above and beyond, nominate them for next year's Collection Site Awards!
