Recycling Roundups

Every year, ARMA helps Municipalities, Indigenous communities, regional waste authorities and commissions, and registered collection sites facilitate Recycling Roundups to collect electronics, paint, tires, and used oil materials for recycling.

These events are run by communities throughout Alberta to help residents divert materials from landfills. If you have any questions about the details of the event, please contact the host. Want to get involved? Your organization can apply to host a Recycling Roundup through our grant program.

Electronics Recycling Roundups

Electronics Recycling Roundups offer schools, non-profit organizations, community groups, and businesses the opportunity to promote environmental responsibility. These events make it easier for people to recycle old electronics and increase community awareness about the importance of proper electronic disposal. All collected items must be eligible under the ARMA Electronics Recycling Program. Wondering what you can recycle? See the list of accepted electronic materials here.

Beyond-The-Bin Roundup

ARMA assists communities in establishing convenient and accessible recycling options right in their neighborhoods. The Beyond-the-Bin Recycling Roundup, previously referred to as the Municipal Recycling Roundup, aims to raise awareness about recycling and simplify the process for Albertans to recycle their end-of-life tires, electronics, paint, and used oil materials.

Currently, there are no scheduled Roundups. Please revisit for updates, or consider hosting your own event by applying for our grants. You can find more information on our grants page here!

ARMA also hosts our own events to help divert additional volumes of materials from landfills.

Commercial Paint Roundups

ARMA hosts regular Commercial Paint Roundups in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer. To qualify, all paint or paint-related materials must be part of the ARMA Paint Recycling Program. Learn more about what paint materials can be recycled.

Accepted items include latex (water-based) and non-latex (oil-based) paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, mineral spirits, paint thinners, primers, sealers, undercoats, wood preservatives, deck cleaners, and paint strippers. All items must be in their original containers and between 100 mL and 23 L.

Couriers and delivery drivers must wait while their loads are inspected. Non-eligible materials will be returned to the driver. Common ineligible items include two-component paints and post-catalyzed lacquers.

Drop-offs are only allowed during designated event times. A strict cut-off will be enforced to allow for sorting and transport.

ARMA is proudly working with Cloverdale Paint and Sherwin-Williams to offer a return-to-retail pilot program where residential and commercial customers can bring their leftover paint, spray paint, and empty paint cans back to select retail stores for recycling.
