The Benefits of an Electronics Recycling Roundup

Technology has made it easier to communicate, find information, and access our favourite entertainment. However, it’s also creating a lot of waste.

Electronics Recycling Roundups Make A Difference

Electronics are quickly becoming one of the largest contributors of waste around the world. According to recent data, 20-50 tonnes of e-waste is generated each year, and only 15-20% of it is recycled.

This is why we’ve created the Electronics Roundup Program for Schools and Non-profit Groups. Many Albertans have old electronics stored in their homes, and we want to create a safe and easy way to recycle them. Our program allows various groups to come together, collect e-waste, recycle it, and raise money for their cause of choice.

By keeping these electronics out of the landfills you’ll reduce the amount of e-waste produced and help create a healthier planet for future generations.

Here are a few benefits you’ll enjoy when participating in our Electronics Roundup program.

1) Earn Cash and Raise Money for Great Causes

Recycling your old TVs, computers, and tablets doesn’t just help the environment. It can also help you convert those unused items into cold hard cash.

Our Electronics Roundup allows groups to collect used electronics to raise money for a variety of causes. The program is perfect for offices, schools, teams, and clubs that are interested in holding a fundraiser.

Download an application and partner with a registered electronics processor (detailed in the application) that will help you set up a location for people to drop off old electronics. Then get the word out to friends, family, and anyone else who wants to donate their items to the cause.

Most people are unsure of what to do with their used TV and computer equipment, so not only will you be helping the environment, but you’ll also be providing people with a valuable service. This can be a great way to get rid of e-waste at your location, as well as collect used electronics from the surrounding area that would have otherwise gone to the landfill.

Once you’ve rounded up all the electronics you can, the electronics processor will take your cage full of items back to their facility for processing. You’ll be amazed at how much can be earned from our Electronics Roundup program.

2) Free Up Space

Electronics are being updated more frequently than ever, which is leading to a lot more e-waste. People are constantly buying new tablets, computers, and other devices, which means a growing number of electronics are being discarded.

Most people don’t know what should be done with these items, so they store them away in closets, basements, and other areas of their homes or offices. The result is a large amount of clutter that quickly starts to build up over the years. So, recycling your old and used electronics is a great way to free up space.

Start by assessing your usage. Are there any devices that you’ve used very little or not at all during the past year? If an item is just collecting dust then it can likely be recycled in order to make room for something more useful.

You’ll also gain peace of mind knowing that you’re handling e-waste properly and helping the environment. Every electronic device you recycle properly is a step in the right direction.

3) Make the Planet a Greener Place

Perhaps the greatest benefit of participating in our Electronics Roundup is that you’re helping to reduce waste and protect the environment. We all share this planet, which means it’s up to every single one of us to do our part to look after it.

Over the last few years, more and more research on e-waste has been done, and the outcomes are definitely in need of improvement. Electronics contain toxic chemicals and heavy metals that can be harmful to our ecosystem. When these items are improperly disposed of, the harmful materials contained within them leach into soils and enter groundwater. This can have devastating effects on both land and sea animals.

Disposing of electronics in landfills can also increase air pollution. When these materials heat up, they release harmful chemicals that impact the atmosphere and pose a health risk to humans.

Every time you recycle your electronics properly you make the world a safer place to live. By getting involved in our Electronics Roundup program, you’re encouraging your friends, family, and community to get involved and help the environment. This is your chance to be part of the solution.
