Safer-than-sand playgroundsLoose rubber crumb (maximum 1/4-inch pieces of clean crumb, free of steel and fibre) is used as a playground cushioning surface, replacing materials such as pea gravel, sand, or wood chips. Rubber crumb provides over double the cushioning effect because it does not compact as much as other material (refer to CSA Standard Z614-98 "Children's Playspaces and Equipment"). |
