A sustainable recycling solution for designated materials that is a model of excellence, which is environmentally and socially responsible, and economically viable.
Mission
Alberta Recycling will carry out its delegated mandate in respect of each designated material:
- By being fully accountable to the Minister of Environment, the Government of Alberta, Alberta Recycling members, industry and Albertans;
- By ensuring its programs meet Provincial requirements for environmental, health and safety standards;
- By openly communicating Alberta Recycling policies, strategies and results;
- By funding education programs for the purpose of waste minimization and recycling;
- By funding research and development activities related to recycling or management of the designated materials.
Goals
Alberta Recycling has identified key goals and strives to meet annual performance measures in each of its three key operating areas:
Alberta Recycling
A1 All Advance Disposal Surcharges for eligible electronics are remitted.
A2 All Advance Disposal Surcharges for eligible tires are remitted.
A3 Alberta Recycling provides full measurement of results and accountability for the funds it manages and for the operations of the organization.
Electronics Recycling Alberta
E1 Enable waste minimization and recycling solutions for all eligible electronics discarded by Albertans.
E2 Eligible electronics are recycled in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
E3 Electronics recycling is economically viable.
E4 Albertans are aware of and support electronics recycling.
E5 The list of eligible electronics is reviewed at least annually, consistent with the Regulation.
Paint Recycling Alberta
P1 Enable effective waste minimization and recycling solutions for all eligible paint and paint containers discarded by Albertans.
P2 Eligible paint and paint containers are recycled in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
P3 Program funding rates are appropriate for a sustainable recycling solution for Alberta's eligible paint and paint containers.
P4 Albertans are aware of, support and participate in paint recycling.
Tire Recycling Alberta
T1 Enable waste minimization and recycling solutions for all eligible scrap tires discarded by Albertans.
T2 Scrap tires are recycled in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
T3 Scrap tire recycling is economically viable.
T4 Albertans are aware of and support tire recycling.
T5 Alberta communities benefit from tire recycling.
